When individuals work in situations where flammable materials are present, it is important that necessary safety protocols are followed. If the proper precautions are not taken, workplace accidents could take place that lead to serious injuries or death. A worker who suffers such injuries may have reason to pursue compensation in order to help with medical expenses or other resulting damages.
Five workers in Texas may qualify for compensation after being seriously injured while working on an oil rig. It was reported that the employees were working on the rig when a fire started. Other workers were able to get the fire under control and called for help for the injured parties. Those workers who were injured were airlifted from the scene to a medical center for treatment.
At this time, it is unclear what may have caused the accident. An investigation has been opened in order to hopefully determine the contributing factors. Investigators will likely look to into safety protocols to conclude whether any violations may have contributed to the event. It was also noted that the company involved in this incident was also involved in a fire several years ago that resulted in the death of one of the oil rig workers.
Workplace accidents that result in serious injuries can have multiple repercussions. The individuals injured in this Texas accident likely suffered serious burns due to the incident being a fire. Burns can take considerable time to recover from, and as a result, the workers may be able to qualify for compensation for medical expenses, lost wages and other damages.
