Automobile accident leads to death of a Texas infant

Accidents, regardless of their severity, are an unfortunate reality on most Texas roadways. One of the most tragic types of car accidents are those that involve pedestrians. In many cases, an automobile accident that involves a pedestrian can have serious and/or fatal consequences. In a recent South Arlington accident, tragedy struck as a father and his child were waiting at an intersection.

In an early morning crash, a pickup truck struck a car that was making a left turn. Following the collision with the car, the pickup then collided with both the father and child who were apparently waiting to cross the street. Police closed some of the lanes at the intersection to investigate the crash, which left both drivers suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

A witness states that the pedestrians were not doing anything inappropriately when the incident occurred. The infant child reportedly died at the scene. The child’s father, who was also reportedly injured, was assisted by witnesses who sought to comfort him at the tragic scene.

Victims of an automobile accident can face many hurdles on their road to recovery. In cases where fatalities occur, the circumstances of the accident are especially tragic. Once the at-fault driver in this particular case is determined, the deceased child's family will reserve the right to file a wrongful death claim in a Texas civil court. While the child's life can never be returned, a successfully litigated claim could provide compensation to help ease the family's pain and suffering and could be applied toward the medical and end-of-life expenses they are most likely incurring.
