A fatal accident recently occurred in Wood County. Texas authorities have deduced from the preliminary investigation that a semi truck crossed the center line, causing a head-on collision with another vehicle and killing the driver of the smaller vehicle. The semi-truck accident remains under investigation.
On a late February morning, the semi truck was traveling along Texas 11, only a few miles away from Winnsboro. The tractor-trailer was heading west when it approached a curve in the road. The details are unclear, but the truck is believed to have crossed the center line and entered the lane of oncoming traffic after the truck entered the curve.
The semi truck collided head on with the driver who was heading east in her car, and the 42-year-old woman lost her life at the scene of the accident. The 56-year-old driver of the semi truck was not injured. The authorities are still investigating the crash, so certain details are not known at this time. For example, it is not clear whether the weather conditions at the time of the crash played a role in the accident. It is also not known whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Anytime a person loses his or her life in a semi-truck accident, it is a tragic situation. However, once the family of the deceased has had some time to mourn its loss, family members may want to begin considering filing a wrongful death claim with a Texas civil court. If they choose to file a suit, they can pursue compensation for the damages they have suffered because of the loss of their loved one.
