Woman faces criminal charges after fatal oil field truck accident

After a fatal accident in which a mother and two of her children lost their lives, the other driver involved in the crash was arrested and is facing criminal charges. The 22-year-old Texas woman is suspected of driving her oil field truck while intoxicated. The woman now faces three charges of intoxication manslaughter resulting from the deadly commercial truck accident.

At around 1 a.m., a minivan containing a father, mother and two children was traveling north on Loop 259. Investigators initially suspected that a commercial oil field truck was heading south on the loop, but the truck was traveling in the northbound lanes. The father, who was driving the minivan, attempted to avoid the oil field truck, but a crash occurred nonetheless.

The father's 12-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son lost their lives in the crash. He and his wife were taken to an area hospital, where his 43-year-old wife also lost her life. The father, the driver of the oil field truck and a passenger in her vehicle were treated and released. The responding officers tested the oil field truck driver for DWI, and they arrested her upon her release from the hospital. She is being held on a $751,000 bond for her three charges.

While the father is lucky to be alive, he will have to live with the consequences of the fatal oil truck accident for the rest of his life. Even though nothing can bring back his wife and two young children, he has the right to file a wrongful death suit against the truck driver and the driver's employer. If successful, he could be monetarily reimbursed for any financial losses the crash caused, as well as other damages recognized by Texas law..
